A new semester.

Hey to every one of you in BicyCAL blog land,

We are still here and we are still totally a thing. Summer was a bit hit or miss, we were usually there but sometimes we were a bit late. But we helped people get their bikes ready for Burning Man, so whatever.

We will be posting our fall hours soon. We hope to be open five days a week but that’s not set in stone yet. Keep checking back and you should see new hours in the next few days.

We are offering a bike repair DeCAL. You can find it on the Berkeley schedule of classes and we should have it up on decal.org soon.

Lastly, if you are interested in getting involved with BicyCAL you should absolutely attend our organizational meeting tomorrow at 2pm at the shop (directions to the shop can be got on the post below this one). We gave people such short notice so we know that any new faces dropped absolutely everything to come to our meeting. Just kidding, we are just totes disorganized.

Please come to the meeting, we really need help!

Here are the new open shop hours for this semester (Spring 2014)

MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 12-3. OH YEAH THAT’S RIGHT FIVE DAYS A WEEK OF THAT PURE RAW BICYCAL MOISTNESS. WHAT’S UP? RIDE THE BARREL AND GET PITTED! WOW!!!

Yeah anyways, we’ll be open a bunch so bring in your bike and we’ll help you with it.

Changes.

Hi bike coop blog readers,

Things are changing, have changed, with UC Berkeley’s bicycle and razor scooter repair cooperative. The old shop is no more, we’ve moved. We are not located in a shipping container next to the ASUC Sproul Tabling shipping container on the steps of the MLK student union on upper Sproul Plaza.

TODAY IS OUR FIRST DAY IN OUR NEW METAL BOX SO COME HANG OUT WITH US.

After today (we’re open from 12-3pm) we will be closed for finals week and winter break. We’ll be back next semester with new hours, which we’ll announce right here on this, BicyCAL’s blog.

Holiday closures.

Hi cyclers,

We will be closed this Wednesday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving, which is on Thursday but whatever. We will resume normal hours of operation next week.

Volunteering at the shop.

Hi,

Maybe you are wondering about how to go about helping out at BicyCAL. Is there some form to fill out, do I have to own more than one bike, do I have to have to know the difference between cottered and cotter-less cranks?

No, no and no (though if you did that would be nice).

All you have to do is show up to the shop when we’re open, announce that you’d like to help and then get after it.

While bike repair knowledge is great, it actually isn’t necessary. All you need is a desire to learn about bicycles, we’ll help with the rest.

Simple as that.
